Our Approach
Phased sprints
Most work is done in focused sprints, so we can dedicate attention to your project. This makes it easier to assign resources, control budgets, show progress, keep momentum, and avoid delays.
Assess first
To understand your current state and explore possible solutions, we recommend starting with an assessment.
Our Process
Our website projects follow this process.
Discovery
Every project starts with a discovery stage. We get to know each other, define project details, and align on goals. This helps us make informed recommendations and budgets, instead of relying on assumptions.
We focus on these areas in your organization:
People: your audience, your team, and your stakeholders
Process: how content gets made, workflows, and governance
Technology: the tools and systems you use
At the end of discovery, you’ll get a report with the scope and budget for next steps.
Research
Research is core to our work. In discovery we’ll determine if the project needs more research. Based on your goals, we’ll recommend appropriate research methods and timing. This stage may involve other consultants or stages of work.
Blueprint
The blueprint is a detailed project plan. Based on our discovery and research, we create a strategy and a plan for fulfilling the work. This is a working document to share with anyone involved.
The blueprint may include:
- content structure, hierarchy, and navigation
- a plan for content migration or transition
- requirements for design, development, or consultation
- templates or guidelines for creating or updating content
- workflows, roles, and responsibilities
- project timeline and progress tracking
- notable decisions and change requests
The blueprint will guide the project through development and content creation. It’ll also outline our level of involvement in the next stage.
Implementation
Development time. This stage can be exciting, but also a strain on internal teams. We can step up to support you with:
- content design, writing, editing, and creative direction
- consulting on key decisions
- leading collaboration with developers, contributors, and stakeholders
- guidance through content creation
- training on new systems and processes
