Designing human-centred content for over 20 years.

Working with me

I specialize in content strategy and bringing together the right people, skills, and technology for a website project.

People

I collaborate with website designers, developers, marketers, copywriters, and consultants who are experts in their niche and care about the outcome. I can work alongside internal teams, support specific content needs, or lead cross-functional teams through the entire project.

Technology

I’ve worked with many systems, including AI builders, Wordpress, Squarespace, Drupal, Sharepoint, and custom CMS. I’m not biased toward a particular platform or agency. The best tool is the one that meets your requirements.

Welcome, I’m Carey.

I trained in photojournalism. In many ways, photojournalism trained me for a career in UX content.

I started working in daily newspapers as a reporter-photographer, then freelancing for publications and organizations across Canada. That’s when this business was born – over 20 years ago, with only confidence and a camera. Naturally, the business has evolved with my career experience.

Journalism taught me that less is more. Research carefully and write clearly. That gets more and more relevant in my work. The shift to digital made content critical. We’ve come to rely on digital content for common and critical interactions. As content gets excessive and loud, clarity is key.

Over the last 20 years I’ve applied human-centred content across communications, content strategy, and UX writing. Working in-house, agency, and contract roles for organizations from 3 to 13,000 employees has given me context to look at content strategically. For over a decade, I’ve been leading the content design and strategy for complex website projects. I’ve been fortunate to work with teams who understand that content belongs at the core of digital interactions, invite me on the task, and trust me to drive.
