In August 2009, I met the marketing manager of Cyclebetes (now 4 What Matters Foundations) on Twitter. The organization was cycling across Canada to raise money toward a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. I happen to be passionate about the cause and knew I could help. Leading up to the relay, I consulted with the team on publicity and media relations. Two weeks later, I was on a flight to Halifax, NS as lead photographer for the project. I documented the trip from Halifax to Victoria, BC., and assisted with media relations, social media, and any miscellaneous grunt work. We raised over $400,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Thanks to this dynamic team of cyclists for the experience of a lifetime.
